30-Day Shred??

So im really thinking of buying the Jillain Michaels 30 Day Shred..i have read a lot of good reviews about how it helps to lose inches and tone up but not a lot of weight. I feel like it would be beneficial for me because even though the scale is slowly but surely moving, i cant see it and im sure it has to do with the fact that i see myself everyday and all i see is fat. so i know toning up and building some muscles would really help, however my dilemma is that i'm one of those people that get paranoid over 0.5 pound gain. I was doing strength training at one point but i gained like 2 pounds and i stopped because my brain just couldn't handle it. I don't know if i should have my brother hide my scale until i finish the shred or trash the battery or try to overcome my paranoia. Can anybody relate? What are your suggestions? Thanks in advance

Lol totally, I tried this video as a guy and gained 3lbs in a week but lost a total of 1.5 inches off my chest, hips and waist. If i were you I'd put the scales in the cupboard while you do these things because they just confuse you.
It's a great workout and I totally recommend it... I didn't do it every day though, I did it on alternate days with pure cardio on off-days.0 -
Oh and as my suggestion: buy a tape measure and find a minimum of 5 points on your body to measure each week or so0

I started using it and went from not working out at all to using the dvd. I saw a difference in a month. My hips looked much better. I'd only lost maybe a max of 5lbs but it looked like I'd lost 10. I am the same as you. I get discouraged if I look at the scale and it's not much loss or it's a slight gain even though I know it's probably just water weight.
Try and go by how your clothes fits and weigh in once every two weeks or something. There are some jeans I kept trying on and thats how I could tell lol they used to be tight and now I can wear them normally, but there are a couple of other pairs I am trying on to gauge loss too0 -
Thanks! I just ordered it, & taking my measurement sounds like a great idea. Im anxious now, im going out to buy the weights I need with it tonight. Hopefully I can push through the soreness. I heard the first couple of days are rough but I guess no pain no gain0

I loved the Shred! I have a few other Jillian workouts and I love them, too. They make me feel very athletic! My biceps looked great afterward, probably from all those darn planks she has you do, and I was holding up about 260 lbs at the time. She uses 3 lb weights, if you're just doing the original Shred and not the Shred It With Weights. I don't have that one, so I don't know what size weights she uses. I just got Ripped in 30 last week, but I haven't tried it yet. Definitely measure yourself. The scale ain't always your friend!0
