Wal-Mart Health Persecution :)

So last night at Wal-Mart I was checking out and the associate was getting upset at all the produce I was buying. After a while he looked at me and said "D**** why can't you just buy packaged food like normal people." I told him it was because I cook/make my own meals when I can and that I am trying to be healthier. His response was for me to get healthier somewhere else.
I got a slight kick out of it - after getting over the fact that I was treated like that by someone with a job which has the main goal of assisting me. :ohwell: But maybe he had just had a long day and didn't want to ring up a whole lot of fruits and veggies at 10 o'clock at night. My sister was furious when she saw it and is emailing the management today, but sometimes I choose to just let things go. For all of us who shop in the produce section (when we can), good job. :flowerforyou:

Well that was rather rude of him lol you handled the situation like a pro, def. better than I ever would lol

I probably would have laughed and said, well have fun looking for another job that doesn't sell fruits and veggies. and then went to Managment right away because it really is no one business but mine what I am buying, especially the check out associate.

Yea, but after my whole Chick-fil-a ice cream incident (older thread) I just decided to not let things like that get to me.

I used to be a cashier and the amount of energy it takes to ring up produce is maybe a millionth of a particle more than ringing packaged food.

Especially if you've been in the job for a few weeks, since most people buy the same kinds of things and you can memorize the numbers, or the numbers are on the stickers.

I tend to find the rudest employees at Walmarts. Not always and some stores are better than others, but it's not unusual that they completely ignore my presence and actually will yell over my head to talk to other people!

it's the holiday season! everyone is always b*tchy this time of year. it's like everyone has a serious bout of PMS for 25 days. especially cashiers and relatives. :flowerforyou:

wow I cannot believe someone would even take the time to complain about a produce purchase. Shocking. I think a complaint to corporate is completely in order.

That is pretty funny. But I think I would complain - he just told you to go shop at a different store because it was too much trouble for him to ring you up.

Have you ever been to a Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve? Oh man, it's a nightmare.
I feel for those poor cashiers. And for anyone who has to deal with customers this time of year. This is only my 3rd year working NOT in retail or a restaurant, and I feel so much LESS stress!!

But, rude is rude not matter what time of year, and I would've NEVER criticised (out loud) what someone was buying!! Uncalled for and unprofessional! Definitely "discount worthy"!!

    Whoa!

If he's talking to you that way, he's talking to other customers that way. He won't have that job long.

I would have loved to see someone give that crap to my wife. She's not above helping someone adjust their attitude. Especially when I am standing right behind her.

We shop at Winco. Where you have to bag your own groceries. As you bag, you have to hit a button with your hip to keep the conveyor moving. Last time we went, the clerk kept moving the conveyor from her end and jamming me up. I finally got her attention and said, "I'm sorry, sweetheart, am I not moving fast enough for you." She turned red and stopped.

If I had been there, and it was my wife, if I hear him say that, and calls her a b**ch, I'm leaning over the register and b**ch slapping his face. Then tell him he is now a b**ch.
  • i agree with you with letting some things go however the level you recived was unacceptable. Please call the manager and report this. If he acting like this with you think of how he could be treating a little old lady with no voice?

That a load of BS. I would have asked to see someone in management. If it were me I would have walked right out of the store with nothing. I rarely shop at Wal-Mart any more because I find the people that work there rude and unwilling to assist you.

Now THAT is something that I would do!! LOL (I've never in my life, that I can remember, had a clerk be rude to me but I'm sure that my time is coming.)
