It appears that there are 118 grams of salt in 160 grams of (generic) spinach! How come? I looked at more than one entry for just "fresh spinach", found two and they both said the same....

In 1 cup of spinach there is 24mg sodium.
Make your own entry.
ETA: Oh, ok, found grams (I'm american, I dont measure in grams lol)
100 grams= 79mg sodium
340 grams= 269 mg sodium0 -

160 grams of spinach is more spinach than I could eat in a week (well, maybe not quite, but it's a lot of spinach)!
Most food has sodium in it. It occurs naturally and is a necessary part of a healthy diet. You just don't need excessive amounts of it.0 -
The serving size on the spinach I'm currently eating is 85g (about three loose cups/what I use for one salad). It's 20 cal, 65mg of sodium and 470mg of potassium.
Not sure how the sodium could be entered so high for other entries unless its cooked w/salt?0 -

No not cooked with salt, and yes I CAN eat that amount in one sitting - it does reduce to next to nothing once it's cooked ......
Thanks for the replies, must be natural salt ? or something!0
