Ham Question

I am fixing a ham tomorrow. I have only baked a ham a few times and I just usually do it according to the directions on the ham. But I am wondering from you experts out there. I have some apple juice left over that I used to reheat a brisket up with. Do you think I could use the apple juice to bake the ham with instead of just plain water? Or do you think I would need to add it toward the end because of the sugars?? I think it would taste ok...sweet like pineapple, don't ya think. Help if you can.

I think apple juice would be fine. Just make sure you keep checking it and if it evaporates add a little water so it doesn't burn. Although ham is loaded with water so it should give off juices too.

My mother-in-law makes the best ham. Its HORRIBLE for the waist line, but oh so good!! She pours a can of coca cola onto the ham, then pours a small box of brown sugar onto the ham. She presses the brown sugar onto the ham so that it sticks and makes the skin have a little "crunch" to it. Then she puts pineapple rings held in place with toothpicks with a cherry in the middle of each. Then she pops it in the oven for a few hours!! Thanks..... now my mouth is watering for some ham!!!!

I do one of two things...both in a crockpot for 5 to 6 hours.

stick pineapple slices on the ham with tooth picks and put enough water to go up half way on the ham. Cook on low in crockpot for 5 to 6 hours.

Or....put ham in crockpot, dump in a can of gingerale, then some water. Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours.

    yum!
