Hi everyone,

I still can't seem to lose the pooch I have on my tummy (just below belly button).

I started this journey because I gained weight while on the depo provera injection, of course on my tummy, hips and thighs. Before this I found it extremely hard to gain any weight.

I am now one kg away from what I was before the depo. I started this journey at the end of July 2011. I have completed the 30 day shred been doing the boost metabolism burn fat, walking, jogging, circuit training and aerobics. I exercise 6 times a week and walk on my day off.

But I have a question the birth control my doctor put me on is the pill monofeme and I know that the pill can create this pooch, i've had a read through some forums, do you think that could be why I can't lose it? I also bloat alot on the pill. Also when I was on depo I had no TOM and so I haven't had real TOM for over a year now I don't see how this can be good for you but my doctor doesn't seem concerned.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience, has maybe stopped their birth control to lose the pooch? Or has any reccommendations of what I could change too?

I can't go see my doctor again until payday which is a week away so any advice would be much appretiated. I've considered just stopping the pill but I'm scared of what might happen.

I did have a weight gain with one particular birth control pill i went on. It was meant to help troublesome skin, It made me sick and hold fluid.
Another thing. If you are like me and have a slight build with narrow hip bones there is nowhere for a little tum to go but forward. The wider the hips the flatter the tummy seems to be able to go. It's just an observation I've made. I've always admired those really flat tummies too - never really had one though!

You're not eating enough. Make sure all of your information is set properly in MFP and make that green number in your diary as close to zero as you can every day.

Also, the only way to get rid of the extra fat on your stomach is to reduce overall body fat percentage. You can't spot reduce..

Read a little bit more about both of these topics in the FAQ here:

A diaphragm is effective if you use it - no bump, no hormonal changes. I liked the pill, cleared up my acne and I was confident. With my monogamous relationship secured, I switched to the diaphragm to be safe. The pill increases risk of breast cancer. The diaphragm if not used increases risk of pregnancy. Make the right choice for you, though.
  • I know I never reach my limit, but when I do I feel way to fill lol. I just eat when I'm hungry and I've never been a very big eater, I'll try to eat some more :)

Ask the doctor about the Mirena coil. No weight affects and is a lot less hormonal than the pill or the depo. It is a lot better for women. Also if you are having trouble eating your calories maybe you could try eating foods like avocados, nuts, full fat milk/cheese, nut butters add dressings to salads etc.
  • Thanks so much will definitely look into it :) and thanks for the eating tips, I might change my milk and add cheese to lunches ( i'm going to have a cheese toastie right now :)
