so i have a candy jar full of hugs, kisses, and mini reese's cups (YUM).
i have put the jar out of sight so that i won't eat it because i see it, yet i know where it is for the times that i need a little piece of chocolate.

something ive noticed that goes through my head is "i dont want the candy to get old, so i need to eat it now while it's still good!"
to avoid eating my weight in chocolate candy... can someone tell me about how long these chocolates will be "good" (i.e. not get old and dry etc) for?
i figure if i have a ballpark estimate (because im sure they won't go bad in the time im telling myself they will) from another source, then i will be less likely to eat it all NOW, bc i know that it will still be there next week in perfectly edible condition (or possibly even next... month?)

thanks!

Heck that stuff has enough perservatives to last forever.

What I would do is put them in baggies and stick them in the freezer. We do that with Halloween candy and then take it out a little at a time. We have never had any go bad.

it really depends on how air tight you "candy jar" is. With that said, chocolate will last quite a while if kept in an air tight container. It really doesn't go bad, just kinda tastes a bit different if it's not in the proper container. I would say though, assuming that your jar is air tight, it will last up to 3 months at least before it starts to get that white film on it.
