Hello everyone (: . So I'm trying to lose weight by eating healthy and dieting But Monday -Friday I fell ok eating healthy & dieting but when Saturday and Sunday come i fell really depressed and those are family days . So I was wondering if its ok to stop dieting on Sunday and Saturday's ? But come back to it on Monday- Fridays ?

    That depends on what you mean by "stop dieting". You really have to look at this as a lifestyle change, not a diet (the first three letters of the word "diet" are DIE).

    I do relax some on the weekend, but I still make myself log my food. I need the accountability. If you "stop dieting", you have to acknowledge what that means. Does that mean "I won't log and I won't sweat it if I go over, but I'll still try to make good choices"? If so, you can probably do that and be fine. But if it means "I won't log and I'll eat whatever and however much I want", then you probably won't lose much. It will be a two small steps forward, one big step backward.

    Why do you think you are depressed on the weekend (especially if that's time with family)? Is your family not supportive of your goals? Without knowing your family dynamic, it's hard to be much help, but if your family is not supportive, that could be part of it. You need to get them on board if they aren't already.

    Healthy eating is something you should try to do all the time. If you go wild on the weekends it will probably undo all you did that week. You can eat anything you want just watch portion size and make substitutions when ever possible. Giving up everything you like will never work.

    For starters you need to change the way you are thinking about this. If you want to lose weight and keep it off you need to think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet. Measure your portions always and log everything you eat and drink everyday. Nothing wrong with going over now and then, in fact I've noticed that seems to help with my weight loss. Follow the plan MFP has set up for you, but this needs to be a life-long change. You can try doing it your way and eating anyway you'd like over the weekend, but I don't think that will work. This will take time, do not give up! If I can do this, anyone can!

    I actually based my diet on what you do. I found it kept me sane to go and eat what I really wanted on weekends. Just not all weekend. Plus I have some bud lights and watch football too. If I craved Pizza all weekend, then I eat pizza once on the weekends. Just don't go overboard.

    Hi, i have the weekends off, i don't log anything - i enjoy having a treat meal saturday with a treat sat night too and a big family roast sunday. I have actually found it helps me get through the rest of the week with something to look forward to at the end. Good luck xx

    I stick to my calorie goal on the weekends. You could take the weekends off, but I wouldn't go too crazy. Still, if you eat well on 5 days out of 7, that's better than zero days out of 7, right? Try it for a while and see if it works for you. You can always change your strategy.

    Get a smart phone. The bar code scanner is such a cool toy, you'll probably have everyone else wishing they could log their food, too.

    I agree this is a lifestyle change. You should enjoy your weekend AND log your food. Nobody expects you to eat pizza until you vomit. They expect you to stop eating when you're full. You're just going to stop eating a little before that.
