DC Friends?!

Hey Everyone!

I'm not new to MFP, but I am new to the DC area (crashing with a friend in MD) and I'm looking for some new friends in the DC area that can recommend yummy, healthy places to eat that aren't chains.

I really want to experience the city but keep my goals in mind...and also make friends.

Has this made you feel sad enough for me that you want to be friends Doo it

Hi,

I'm not actually in DC...in Northern VA...but I can use as many friends as I can get if you want to add. I don't know a lot of DC restaurants but I have been to Capital City Brewing right by the Capitol. They have a hummus appetizer that's fantastic. I wonder if you could get it with veggies instead of pita...but man, I love the pita. They also had a grilled chicken with veggies that was well within my diet. My husband likes the beer.

I'm actually not in DC either. I just started a job Nov. 28th that's in Arlington, so I had to move to the area from OH. It's such a difference but so far so good...although I noticed the price hikes on a lot of things I'll have to check out Capital Brewing.

How are the winters? I'm so terrified of snow (although i lived me whole life in Ohio).

We had a decent snow 2 years ago and got 3 feet but that's WAY unusual. I'm a teacher so I actually look forward to snow. I'm in Gainesville and we go to Arlington occasionally for dinner. Have you been to Rock Bottom Brewery (yes, there is a theme and it's Dan's fault)? I think there's another Capitol City Brewing near Arlington also. My husband has a friend that lives there so I'll get some good recommendations from her.
