So I have lost 72lbs in about 10 full months. I have dropped 4 dress sizes. I do see a huge difference, obviously in pictures and also in muscle development. I have great arms ON TOP, but another arm loosly hanging on the bottom! My stomach and especially my inner thighs....the skin has not tightened AT ALL! I'm 35 and still have about 50 lbs to go. I have to wear Spanx now when I work out because when I am doing some kind of cardio, my jiggly skin takes about a half second to catch up to the next move! Does that make sense to anyone? I hate the way I feel now that I have lost a bunch of weight because before with the 72lbs, atleast my fat legs and arms were tight! Now I feel like they look worse!!!

Any advice on what to do? Or anyone noticed that the skin goes back to a somewhat normal state??? Feeling down about this!! :(

I can relate to that. I have lost 47 lbs in 7 months. I have loose skin with the wrinkles (and it's not from being old) But I read that it can take 2 years to tighten the skin. It also said to use firming lotion. I can't afford any tucks so i guess I will keep working out and do weights hopefully that will help. Please don't feel down,You are doing great. Keep working out and it will get better. GOOD LUCK to you.

The older you are, the more of a problem it is. Wearing supportive clothing so the weight of the jiggly part doesn't continue to stretch your skin makes sense. Everyone deals with this after childbirth, and while the stretch marks are permanent, the sagging eventually goes away.

    Well done on your progress.

I am at that place myself, BUT, the good news I am told (by those who are older and lost more than me) that 2 years from now it should not be a problem.

Keep using small weights, many reps, eat more so you can burn more fat, while maintaining or even building a little more muscle.

There will be a time when you are near your goal that you throw away your scales as numbers will be meaningless, and before/after photos will mean heaps to you.

The younger you are, the quicker it goes.

In the meantime disguise what you can (eg my current pic the mid-section flab is 90% below the belt-line and 10% above).

    You can do this !
  • Thanks everyone! I guess I am just being impatient with myself! I think the thing I hate the most is that I did this to myself! I gained over 100lbs and stretched my body out and now loosing it, I have the "scars" to see what I did! I feel great, but the extra skin is a constant reminder. BUT a reminder to NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER GO BACK!!

    Appreciate your comments!!! Thank you!!

BTW, I posted a pic of my flabby arms so you can see what I am referring to....horrific i know!! lol

I'm quite interested in this myself. I've lost 63lbs and i can notice the skin starting to go espically on the lower part of my stomach and the inside of my upper arms. It really scares me and gets me down when i think about what i will look like at the end of this as i've still got 83lbs to go!!!!! But i'm trying not to freak out bout it though. One problem at a time. I'll deal with the weight first then worry bout the skin after. I am starting to think surgery might be my only option if i want the skin to be as it was before i put on all of this weight (well as close to as possible).
  • It all depends on your age, how long you were overweight, how quickly you lost the weight, if you have yo-yo dieted in the past, if you are a smoker, if you have sun damage, and your genetics.

I lost 106 pounds and I am 61 years of age. You are welcome to look at my pictures here: http://s1112.photobucket.com/albums/k499/grannygethealthy1111/?action=view&current=001-2.jpg

My skin has recovered quite well for my age ... not perfect, but I am pleased. It took 22 months of hard exercise to achieve it. Best of luck! Trust me, sagging skin is nothing compared to being obese. I would take the sagging skin any day of the week.
  • Great job ladies on your weightloss!!

Yes, Donners185 said it best, one problem at a time! I will try not to freak out about this either and take it as it is!

I just started adding more Free weight lifting and hopefully over time, that will help!

@Gazz777- disguising is my new fashion trend!! lol

Feel free to Add me as a friend, I would love more support to some of you who are in the same boat as me! :) Thanks!!

I've got adult acne, and the skin on my face definitely shows the effects of the retinA, compared to my neck. I'm considering buying a vanity tube and trying on my tummy after I've lost a bit more weight, lol.
