calories burned accurate?

Okay. Tried this under another topic and had no response whatsoever so I'm trying it under this one.

I have a HRM. Have used HRMs for a few years, although this one is somewhat new to me. It's about a year old, at least. Anyway, I'm quite fit and for the past few months, noticed that calories burned were significantly reduced for all areas - cardio, especially.

I had to replace the battery in the wrist unit last week (the warning thing came on). After re-doing my vitals on it, I see now that the cals burned is up to what it was previously. I'm working out more, not less, and am in better condition than even a few months ago.

Could a low battery affect what a wrist unit records? Or should I go through my vitals again, and my base rest test again, just to make sure that it's still accurate?

For the record, I lost three pounds this week after being plateau'd and slightly rising, so something's gotta be going well! :-)

Thanks for any insight. I couldn't find a thing about this anywhere online.

You know, I don't have an HRM, But I'd imagine you would want to redo your base if you changed your batteries.

the battery being close to dead could be giving or receiving a weak signal, I noticed when my batteries run low, it does't report the heartrate all too accurately usually after 5 minutes of jogging at a medium pace I can get my hr up around 120 or 130 and it will read like 90.

Thanks for that. I do plan to at least re-do my resting rate. All the rest are fine (after I changed the battery, it took me through the setup again to reaffirm the vitals).

Jhardenbergh, thanks for that information. I'm feeling a bit more reassured. I wasn't sure what was happening. I just thought that I was getting more fit! :-)
