edited September 2024 in Fitness and Exercise
I was going to do my usual indoor bike and also add an exercise video when I went out to mail something and saw how nice it was. It was still cold, I think about 32 degrees F but it was mostly dry (except where inconsiderate people didn't shovel :grumble: ) and sunny, so I decided to give it a whirl.

I haven't walked since like September, so despite still getting regular exercise all winter, I figured I'd have to start slow and work back up to my usual walking pace. So I swiped my boyfriends underarmor shirt, layered on a few more shirts and grabbed my Ipod, scarf and earmuffs and off I went. I ended up doing 3 miles, and in exactly an hour so I kept my 3 mile an hour pace from last season!

I am so excited, and I had much more fun on my walk than I would have doing a work out video. It really wasn't until the home stretch that I started to feel any fatigue or anything, I feel great! Though I just realized the 5K or 10K I am walking in is coming up in just a month and a half, so I had better get started on my walking more regularly. I probably won't decide if I am doing the 5 or 10 K until the day I register. I can do the 5 no problem at all, so I am thinking I will shoot for the 10 to challenge myself!

Woohoo! Sounds like fun to me! :drinker: I can't wait for later this week we are supposed to get better weather hopefully w/o the wind. This weekend I want to do a cookout by the pool and grill up some veggies and pollo asado. Yum! Oh and I want to walk outside too! I tried a few weeks ago when we finally got a nice day but then there was a fire down the road and too much smoke out to breath yuk! Really spoiled my plans!

Keep up the good work Amy! :flowerforyou: I love your name by the way.

Wow, I'll try sending good thoughts your way so it will melt. We actually got about 3 or 4 inches saturday morning, but with most people shoveling and/or some of the snow melting already, it made for a decent walk. And I was pretty geeked that I kept up my pace despite several lengths of sidewalk that had snow that made it a little difficult to walk.
