Hi everyone,

I still can't seem to lose the pooch I have on my tummy (just below belly button).

I started this journey because I gained weight while on the depo provera injection, of course on my tummy, hips and thighs. Before this I found it extremely hard to gain any weight.

I am now one kg away from what I was before the depo. I started this journey at the end of July 2011. I have completed the 30 day shred been doing the boost metabolism burn fat, walking, jogging, circuit training and aerobics. I exercise 6 times a week and walk on my day off.

But I have a question the birth control my doctor put me on is the pill monofeme and I know that the pill can create this pooch, i've had a read through some forums, do you think that could be why I can't lose it? I also bloat alot on the pill. Also when I was on depo I had no TOM and so I haven't had real TOM for over a year now I don't see how this can be good for you but my doctor doesn't seem concerned.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience, has maybe stopped their birth control to lose the pooch? Or has any reccommendations of what I could change too?

I can't go see my doctor again until payday which is a week away so any advice would be much appretiated. I've considered just stopping the pill but I'm scared of what might happen.

I would go get a second opinion, or just come out and ask your Dr why it isn't bad that you haven't had a TOM in a year and whether he knows about the pooch that could be caused by the pill. A week isn't very long to wait. IMO I wouldn't stop your birth control for vanity without talking to your doctor, because there could be consequences to that.

lots of birth control can cause u to gain weight befor i had my first child i could eat whatever i wanted whenever i wanted after i hAD HER i lost all 20lbs i gained from being prego in about 2 weeks then they put me on birth control and i gained it ALL bak then i had my second child and got HUGE!!! had her and lost about 15lbs in one week then got an IUD and gained 20lbs took it out lost 10 lbs in a week got on a dif pill only gained 5lbs but found it hard(but possible) to lose weight quit taking it and poof started losing weight again.... but in all having to work harder to lose weight would probably be better than gaining a ton being prego(unless you wanted a baby now) lol
  • I don't think the pill makes it harder to lose weight, it might affect your hormones when you go off it and cause you to want to eat more to feel better, but in the last year of losing weight I have been on and off the pill with no difference in weight loss rate. You might gain some water weight also.

I don't know anything about that particular pill but I have the opposite issue, breakthru bleeds and early periods.

I agree the side effects of going off it can cause a lot more than a couple pounds of water weight!

Im planning on getting a non-hormonal birth control implant called the para gaurd. Hormones from birth control can really damage you without you even knowing it along with all the side effects. Talk to your doctor about it, it sounds amazing.
