    Thanks for all the responses.
I'm believe I'm going to give my normal Christmas tips to the lady who cuts my hair and my gym trainer. I did find out the newpaper delivery person can be tipped directly to the newspaper office - they do take taxes, but at least I think they will get the money.
Going to skip the postman because my regular guy retired and I've not me the new person.

Going to send something to the local food pantry. We have a lot of people in our area still struggling with unemployment and depending on the pantry.

Holy. Moly. I'm in the UK and thankfully we don't HAVE to tip the way you do in America. We DO, but it's not a crime if you don't (obviously I know it's not a crime there, but you know what I mean). If I go to dinner, I assume I'll pay for my meal/service and tip the waiting staff. That's what I assume before I go. However, if the service is atrocious, I have no qualms about not leaving a tip. They get paid to do their job. I'll tip if they do a good job. And I'll tip better if they're amazing.

It'd never occur to me to tip my mailman or binmen though! Hairdresser, yep. Masseuse, yep (both on the same premise as my restaurant).
