Hi I just wanted to introduce myself. I am finally getting serious about getting this excess weight off. I am a chronic non-exerciser. I finally joined the gym and got a personal trainer since I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I have been doing this for a week and it is amazing how much more motivation I have, not to mention how much great I am feeling. I look forward to meeting all of yall!

Welcome! Just so you know, 80% of your weight loss will be through calorie tracking. As Jillian Michaels says, you can eat your way through any amount of exercise, so be sure and track your calories closely. Personally, I've never belonged to a gym. Yet I'm probably 2-3 lbs from what I weighed in h.s. I've always been very careful about what I've eaten though. I will say that exercise will give you that extra push to get the weight off.

Hooray! I don't have the spare money for a gym or trainer, but I can buy $5 DVDs at Wal Mart. Definitely Jillian Michael's. And I learned from the first DVD to create my own circuit training routine, and it's working just as well. Good luck to you!0

here are a few tips that I found to work for me:
1. Make MFP yoru home page
2. Log in EVERYDAY, read the message boards post.. Keep your mind actively thinking about it.
3. Don't try to change too much at once, Implement 1 change every week or so. Little tweeks over time seem to work best or at least better than but load of change all at once
4. Always be honest. We al fall on our way to the top, be honest, no one is judging you here... we all support eachother
5. Keep trying new things until you find what works for you (It took me a while to find my plan and it works great for me but I wouldn't push it on anyone else)
6. Its easier to lift weights than the burdens of carrying weight.
7. take it one day at a time.
8. Have a cheat day or meal, where you eat what you want
9. Try to talk to yourself as if you are talking to your child or loved one. Often times the thing we need most is to be a better friend to ourselves.

Good luck with everything, I joined MFP long before I ever started actually seriously tried to lose weight, but biggest advice I guess I could give is probably don't set a specific date that you have to meet your goal by otherwise it really adds stress and that won't help at all, that has been one of my biggest differences this time around I am just taking my time and not stopping and its finally working, feel free to add me if you'd like to motivation is important.0
