I'm thinking I want to buy myself a treadmill for Christmas. I love to run but cant and wont in the cold and snow. I'm wanting to actually train for a half in May and there is no way I can through the winter in Iowa outside. I don't want to spend tons of money. Actually want to stay under $500 which I know is not alot but I had one before and never used it so we got rid of it. If I spent a ton of money my husband would flip. So what do you all have, how much was it and where did you get it from? Thank you!

Mine is a Merit Fitness 725T. I got it on Amazon last year, and I love it. It is absolutely perfect for what I do - walking and jogging - and was a great price. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Merit-Fitness-715T-Plus-Treadmill/dp/B003TNO1AA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1323057822&sr=8-3

P.S. I think it has a 250 lb weight limit.

I beleive I have this one

For an at home one it's very nice. I mostly walk, but I can definitely run on it as well. I am not sure if it is how it was put together or if it's just because it is a lower price one, but sometimes when I run my foot does feel like it pushes the belt forward and I feel a little off balanced for a minute. But like I said, this could be due to how it was put together, belt not tightened enough, etc.

However keep in mind, a $500 treadmill is not going to be like the ones at the gym. Like I said I like mine, but then when I go to the gym it's like wow, what a difference. Mine is like a Ford Focus and the gym ones are like an Escalade. However they are also about $2000.

So the same way! We got a cheap one from the local Kmart and boy was it a good investment. It actually is holding up better than some expensive ones that my husband has worked on. It's a Cadence. Not sure (as a generic) that it's still sold but we've found that it holds up great.

If you're on a budget you should trying looking at used sporting good stores like Play It Again Sports. A lot of times people buy treadmills and only use them for a few weeks until the novelty wears off. Once they realize it's just collecting dust they sell it.

Another good place to look is Good Will. I've seen treadmills and other sporting equipment that looks brand new at Good Will. Call around, you might be surprised at what you find.
