Hernia question

I had a hernia repaired February 2009. After the surgery I didn't do any exercises to try to strengthen the muscles. I am now doing crunches but a few days ago I did regular sit up and was very sore the following couple of days. I didn't do any abdominal exercises over the weekend to try to give them a rest since I'm not used to vigorous exercise yet. I started doing my normal crunches this morning and I had pain where my hernia was. I can feel it now without exercising. Not painful just aware that its there. Is this just normal muscle pain or do you think i injured the hernia area?

Hard to say. If it continues, see your doctor. All of us would only be guessing. Maybe give it a few days to see if it improves. If it's extremely painful, though, don't wait.

I have been experiencing the same phenomena for years, after having a left inguinal hernia repair (it was a LARGE hernia) and a small umbilical hernia repair.
I would suggest that you have your physician check you out because I'm not qualified to diagnose anyone for anything, but to share what I was told: It's normal.
I will feel random "pain" down there on occasion and it's not even when I'm pushing hard on a lift, it's somewhat random. And just as you describe, it's not really pain in that it doesn't hurt much at all, it's just something that makes me notice it.
I believe I was told that it could be inflamed scar tissue or something like that, but I could be full of crap.
You should still have your doctor check it out.0
