Hi everyone,

I did all types of diet from slow low carb and atkins and mono diet and now i'm on calorie control.
I do almost 1 hour 3 days cardio and 1 hour lifting with cardio the other 3 days and need to lose about 10 pounds a month. What I have noticed is doing calorie control doesn't help me losing weight as I'm expecting and I love the other diet like mono ( eating one type of food for 10 days or so) but my problem is when I do such diets I lose my energy to do my exercise.

What do you? Do you have any suggestions???

Thanks in advance

How long have you been calorie counting?
How many calories do you average per day?
What is your current height and weight?

    1) Two weeks is not nearly long enough to make decisions about whether it's working or not.
    2) 10lbs/month is not a realistic expectation and I suspect this is where your frustrations are stemming from. You are not fat enough to lose 2.5lbs/week reliably.

I would set your goal somewhere between 1lb/week and 1.5lb per week.

So do you think if I waited for another 2 weeks and see the results I might lose this weight???

    Thanks for the help

I think that you should continue tracking calorie intake and if you are indeed eating in the range of calories that you listed I expect you will lose weight. This assumes you are counting accurately and that you do not have medical conditions that would prevent weight loss.

What do I do? I don't diet. Change my eating, yes, to something I can do every day, for most of my life. If you are doing anything that makes you lose energy for working out, it's not going to work. You need to be patient. It sounds like your calorie level is reasonable, just keep at it and you will see results. Patience. Sorry. But it takes time, done properly.

And what Sidesteal said. Listen to him. He knows what he's talkin' about.
  • I completely understand where you are coming from. I like to see a change quickly and that just doesnt happen. Over the last couple of months i have tried all kinds of different diets just like you. Have you looked into Bikini BootCamp? I just found it and i honestly love it. I purchased the book at Barnes and Nobles. Its not like your typical diets where it cuts out everything and only focuses on one thing. The book helps you to excerise, and eat right. Breaks everything down for you and has a lot of structure.

Thanks Sidesteal for the helpful information, I will try to log on my calories intake daily and will wait until the end of the month, so with my calorie intake and my exercise routine which is about 1 hour a days and if I lost 1.5 pounds a week I'm expecting to lose about 7.5 pounds this month, thanks alot again for the help

I'm trying to do the same thing as you do but I'm as most of us who wants results very fast....

Can you tell me in how long you lost this weight by changing your life style?

I just had a general look at the diet and it seems interesting, and what I'm doing right now looks like this diet, the only difference is the time of working out.

I'm doing 1 hour daily so I will think to do 2 hours every other day...I hope so

    Thanks again for the tips

Stick with it, like Sidesteal said.
Keep in mind our bodies take some time to adjust to a change in food/exercise and you need some time to allow for those adjustments.

I have been on MFP for a year and some weeks I'm great with the food, but slack on exercise and vice versa. I am currently trying to find a balance and figure out why I struggle with both. If you are like me and get discouraged when you feel great but the numbers on the scale do not reflect that then I would suggest also taking measurements.

When I first started and was with a trainer I felt great after a week and a half, scale said I lost 2lbs but measurements showed I had lost 19inches overall, which reflected why my clothes felt loser. I also started taking before and progress pictures which really helped me see the big picture =)

You can do this and remember we didn't gain all this weight over night and as much as we would all love to lose it over night it is a long process with a lot of little speed bumps to tackle. Hang in there and remember we are all here for you to support you on your journey =)

I lost a big chunk of it quickly, the first 17 came off in about 7 weeks, then I plateaued for 13 weeks! Then the rest came off, in all it took me 7 months to lose about 40 lbs (my weight's gone up a couple of pounds in the last two months, due, I hope to muscle built from heavy lifting). I've now kept it off for another 6 and a bit months. I understand your impatience--I'm so impatient! But suddenly it's 10 pounds, then it's 20 etc.... it comes off. Treat your body well, feed it good foods, and keep it strong. It will pay off... go easy on yourself. It hasn't been a completely smooth ride for me, but I'm here now. And I'm going to continue it. I feel amazing! Day by day.

Keep picking new fitness goals, don't focus too much on the weight. If you pick fitness goals, you will naturally lose the weight along the way. I picked a pretty lofty goal (for me); a half marathon and that was my focus for months. At the end of it, I felt I'd suddenly lost weight, run a half marathon and I felt superhuman!!!
