The torture is forth coming...yes, I have to get my wisdom teeth removed on Friday. I've never had to have a tooth removed by a dental professional ever; so I'm kind of freaking out. But that's not what I need help with.
I was hoping to get some suggestions on what kind of stuff to eat while my chompers are out of commission. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
And who knows...I may even post a pic of myself looking like a stoned chipmunk in exchange...maybe...LOL!

Aww, don't worry! It's not as bad as you think
I was eating normally the day after.
As for day one, I had a lot of yogurt and cottage cheese, bananas, smoothies (with a spoon; you can't use a straw). Basically I put everything I wanted to eat in the blender. Good luck!0 -

Nope...although I did inadvertently pull out a molar by chewing on a Now & Later one Halloween when I was little...that was interesting...0 -
Not to worry - they knock you out and out they come. I had all 4 of mine removed when I was about 20. The problem was the Codeine - it made me sicker than a dog. I learned since then to stay away from it. I could have done w/ some other pain med, like vicodine, but when you're on an empty stomach, pretty much any pain med will made you sick. You can eat soft stuff for a few days, and then gradually eat stuff that won't get stuck in the holes. Don't freak out - you'll be ok.0

Soft things, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese , pudding, soups, ice cream, shakes, smoothies, That sort of thing.0

I had one of mine out about a year and a half ago. I've had manicures that hurt more (not joking). They have come an incredibly long way in pain management since I had the first 2 out about 20 years ago. The first one was jello and pudding for about 2 weeks. The second I remember a bowl of soup and other than that it was no big deal. I'd have some soup in the freezer and some apple sauce for breakfast. Other than that don't sweat it.0

Soft, healthy foods, and NOTHING out of a straw. I had mine out and was eating pretty normally the next day as well. It's different for everyone, hopefully you aren' t too swollen and you heal fast!0

Thanks for the tips and the support...this is why I love MFP0

My wisdom teeth game in a broke off two of my other teeth so I had 6 pulled at once. I would suggest mashed potatoes, jello, pudding, macaroni and cheese, anything really that doesn't agitate the area.0

Make sure you have somebody to keep an eye on you afterwards!! I was zonked out on pain meds but allegedly kept trying to walk down the stairs at my house?! You'll sleep for a while
. I ate normally too - just nothing crunchy. Felt weird. Good luck!! It's

That is exactly what happened to me...I'm getting 6 teeth pulled too0 -
I'm sorry you have to go through that. I had mine surgically removed when I was around 13. I do remember that I didn't eat but took the pain meds and they made me throw up. So I would suggest at least trying to drink a little chicken broth or something before taking your pain meds.
I agree with others-mashed potato, soup with small noodles, pudding, yogurt smoothie drinks (not the frozen ones)0 -
:flowerforyou: Make them or buy a syringe to clean out your sockets. A lot of times food will get stuck back there and it's just easier to clean them out that way.
Also, I didn't have any swelling, I did heat and then cold on my face and I think that it helped with the swelling.
Everybody is different but it took me FOREVER to eat normal, I couldn't move my jaw that much to chew. LOL
Good Luck!0
