Ok, so i need to start working out again but i am short on time. I tried working out in the morning but felt like i was going to pass out after, most likely from not eating yet????? but i dont have time to eat and then wait to digest my breakfast before working out. I work full time 8-5 and have 5 kids to get to school and i have to shower and get ready for work. Can i work out after dinner??? how long do i need to wait after eating?? i dont want to work out to late because then i can not fall asleep. I was walking/jogging on my lunch break but my dr wants me to do a lean muscle workout. Can you help me with what i can eat so i dont get sick and how long i need to wait to workout after eating. thanks

It's all doable!! I have 5 kids, and I home-school too. I used to get up early to work-out before eating breakfast. I felt fine, but now I have been doing it either right after dinner or after breakfast. Some will probably say that's not a good idea, but it works for me. Get the kids involved too!!
  • I work full time, go to school part time and have six kids with a needy husband. I get home at 5pm, we eat dinner around 6-630pm (at the latest); crockpot is my best cooking friendly device. I spend time with the kids then I send them to their rooms for their reading/tv time around 8pm, workout for 45min-60mins then shower and spend 30-60 mins relaxing with my hubby and by then I'm exhausted and I fall asleep like a baby. It works for me.
I also take two days off of working out a week; usually Friday and Saturday or pick two of the busiest household days of the week and don't work out those days but stay within your calorie goal. I'm on a 1200 calorie goal, if I go up to 2000 and eat mostly healthy items all day I don't worry about it. Even without exercise.

Don't over complicate it. Just do it when you can. Even ten minutes here or there is better than nothing. It doesn't matter if you've eaten or not eaten, or where the kids are. Just squeeze in a little bit here and there.
  • so tonight after dinner while the kids where cleaning up the kitchen i went and did 11 min on the elliptical and the did some ab workouts and squats for about 15 min then my 3 yr old and 16 month old started screaming for me. I wasnt ready to give up just yet so me and the 3 yr old did a few more exercies. i get sick in the morning if i dont eat first and i dont have time to eat and wait for food to digest to work out so i will just do it after dinner, i felt great.

    thanks
