If there would somehow be no other option would it be better to go over your recommended amount of fat or carbs?

I'd say it would depend on what kind of fat and what kind of carbs. Eating fruit and veggie carbs won't do damage the way pasta, bread, and cracker carbs would. Olive oil, avocado, or other good fat won't do the same damage saturated fats will. What are the choices you are considering? That would help us help you better.0

i know this doesnt answer your question, but it's really about staying in a range. the recommended range for calories are generally 20-35% from fat, 45-65% from carbs, and 10-35% from protein. that being said, if it is a healthy fat, i would go for that over carbs...0

I think it's best to go over with a food you really, really enjoyed.
Unless you're particularly sensitive to carbs, staying under on calories, or even just close to your goal, is more important than being precise on carbs and fats.0
