So every month I have such a hard time when it is that time of the month! I mean, I simply can't NOT stuff my face. It is worse than when I was quitting smoking. The cravings are that bad. Anyway, because of stuffing my face I also gain weight every single month, and not just the normal 1-2lb water weight that will leave when TOM is gone. Nope, we are talking 4-6lbs that I have to work to get off. So even if I lose 8lbs in one month, it ends up only really being 2 or 3lbs. :frown:
All of that to say that I am in that week right now and have been feeling really bad about myself and lack of self control. So I felt really good that all day yesterday and today my glasses keep falling off my face! They simply don't fit...time for a new/smaller pair! I needed this NSV to kick my butt into shape and not stuff my face today!

I totally get what you mean by the cravings!!! I don't even get a period anymore, but I still have the hormones and all the cravings that go with it - it's just as bad as being pregnant, for me.

Sarah,
From the looks of your profile you have really done quite well in your weight loss endeavor. As one looses weight it will get harder to knock off the remaining pounds so don't let your "binges" drag you down, focus on the successes instead. While I'm not quite half way (21 of 50 somethingish pounds) I have found three key factors will "make or break" my progress.
1. Education. Log in daily via computer or app and post everything you eat. Not only will this make you "accountable, it will also educate you (or reinforce what you already know) in regards to what your allowing yourself to eat. Nothing better than knowing as you reach for that little Mini Snickers that it WILL cost you (albeit slightly).
2. Exercise. Do this daily and if time is an issue, plug in 3 or 4 - 15 minute sessions throughout the day. Even 15 minutes a day is better than nothing.
3. Avoid temptation! Keep the junk food out of the house, work environment and STAY OUT of the junk food rows at the store!
I also sit all day at my job but by following the three point above I have gone from a perpetual junk food grazer all day long to three lightweight meals a day w/occasional snack of carrots & fruit. The "cravings" for a snack are pretty much gone as well.
Being a guy I certainly can't relate to your "time of the month" cravings so I'll use my age (54) as my "issue" as it's harder to get off one rear to exercise when you ache more often. ;-)
So I'll finish with this.

I can totally understand. I also suffer from PCOS. I am at SAHM to my three boys, 8,2,6 mths. I hate that I can be so good all month, and then fall apart for that one week. Although with my messed up hormones sometimes it's more than a week, sometimes more than once a month. So, I totally get the hormonal problems you're dealing with. I don't have any magic answers though, except to say don't give up. Normally, nothing is completely off limits to me. I don't want to be on a "diet" but actually change my life to a healthier one. But, during TOM I crack down really hard and just say 'no' to all that stuff. I feel like if I give in a little, I'll give in a LOT. So, I don't give in. It's hard. I ask my husband to help keep me accountable and that helps. Sure, I want to bite his head off some days when he asks me how I'm doing with it, or if I've been good. But, that's the hormones talking, and I remind myself of that. I hope someday I can reach that place where I'm okay indulging in a treat here and there without going overboard, but my control isn't there yet. Until then. I'm here to chat if you want, instead of thinking about the food0
