I am in the 12th week of my weight loss journey. Have lost 24 pounds and the last 3-4 days I have been super hungry, nothing is satisfying my hunger. Never have experienced this. I am still trying to stay within my caloric intake, but have gone over every day for the last 3 days. Two days not by much like 60-160 calories and then yesterday I went over by 500+ because I was soooo hungry. I am struggling today....tips and anyone know why this happens?

    Hi

Are you eating enough calories? Enough nutritionally valuable food? Hormones can affect how hungry you feel too...not sure if you are male or female, assuming female! What is it that you are particularly craving? That could be an indication...

I know when perhaps I've been skimping on nutrition because I crave carbs, or if I'm not eating enough I crave sugar (perhaps quickest way for my body to get energy?) Not saying there's any science in it but generally your body is trying to tell you something!

I have soup and bagels for lunches when I am feeling "bingey" and protein with salad and potato or something for dinner. I try and eat bigger portions of healthier food. Porridge for breakfast too.

Up your workout routine and your calories at the same time and see what happens, maybe?

Typically I try to eat healthy. Soups, salads, sandwiches. I am eating 1200 calories. I have been craving chocolatey foods and carbs. My carb overall has been on the lower side. I wonder if this is just my body trying to ask for more food. I think instead going for my cravings I should eat, but eat something healthy and that will satisfy me.

I'm always hungry, especially at night. I just up the calorie burn, so I can eat. Seems to work. I run to eat.

Sometimes heartburn makes you feel hungry. Try a little antacid (tums, milk of magnesia, etc) and see if that makes the "hunger" go away.

Otherwise I'd suggest upping your calories by 150-200 a day until this phase passes. What BMI are you shooting for?

Personal question but is your period due/are you on your period? I know that when I'm on my period I crave a lot of chocolate and carbs and I've spoken to a lot of other girls who have the same problem, so it could be that, maybe?

Sometimes I think it's good to have a day or two when you go off the rails a little bit, though....for some reason if I have a couple of days of cravings, then I usually find my weight loss improves after those couple of days. So who knows? Maybe it's your body telling you that it's needing some kind of nutrition?
  • I've been like that since thursday. I really wish it would quit!!!

I have PCOS, which makes my periods absent or irregular, but I should be getting a period soon due to the weight loss...crossing my fingers!
