Need some Advice...

Hey everyone....
I am a traveling ultrasound tech and spend as much to 5-6 hours a day driving....I have gained about 50lbs in a year and would like to lose it... Here is my dilemma.... I live in a very small house that does not have much room to exercise in, can't afford a gym membership, and live in Upstate New York where the weather is not always kind to workout outside....
I do have a Tony Little Gazelle and have slowly been using that... I am now up to 20 minutes a day 3 days a week... I have been doing pretty good with my food intake and definitely don't have a problem getting my water in. I have given up drinking soda on a regular basis and have cut my coffee intake to one cup a day (no sugar just cream)...
What can I do to help speed up my weight loss journey...
Also would love to have more friends that would help in my journey

Leslie Sansone has some good indoor walking workouts. You can view her workouts on Collagevideo.com. You can buy her workouts at Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.

If you want to try out some kickboxing. Tae Bo. You can check out the workouts on Colagevideo.com as well.

you can always invest in some exercise bands and a pull up bar..total investment is like $60...You can also get some DVDs..I have Jillian Michales..and they were about $9 each.

There are loads of options..outside of an actual gym

I don't have alot of room either and can't do a gym membership. I have a bunch of Leslie Sansone DVDs and a few other besides hers. I also have a small stepper that does not take up much space and I can move it from room to room.
  • I know how cold it gets up there. Speaking from experience you can utilize some exercise videos like Tae Bo or Jane Fonda (everyone loves the 80's) and also get some free weights. Adding in a little bit of weight training will help tone and build some muscle which will burn more calories!

If u have stairs in your house u can use them. I run up and down mine several times. Great work out. Use a gal of milk for weights, try layin in your bed and do sit ups(totally diff then on the floor), run or walk from one end of house to other increase speed as u go, options r endless just use your imagination.

push ups! start with as many as you can do (i started with like 1 or 2 proper man push ups) and now can do 3 x sets of 10 without a hassle.

crunches - i like to do 100 a day, so 4 sets of 25. when i watch the biggest loser, i do as many crunches as i can every ad break, and it always tends to be over 100 by the time i've finsihed with the show. makes me feel not quite as lazy for sitting around watching tv.

    squats, lunges, tricep dips.

all of these can be done infront of the tv or wherever.
  • I had previously lost 80 lbs doing tae bo-Billy will kick your body into shape really fast if you give it your all...I wish I hadn't stopped working out. Now Im back in the starting lane again-If you want and easier one to start out with the Tae Bo Funk is a little less intense and a little more dancey-then work your way up to the harder ones.

I was looking on google today to see what would help with keeping warm during my walks when its cold. There are several options for underclothes that will keep you warm and dry. You may not be able to afford a gym membership but maybe if you look on google for the correct type of clothing you could check on ebay for the items at an extra low cost. Consider it an investment. Even if you only walk for half an hour every day it's better than not doing anything. It's been cold here for the last few days, I have just been piling on layers of clothes before I head out, i wrap a scarf around my ears and face. The cold air hurts my lungs after a bit so breathing through the scarf keeps the air warm. Hopefully this is helpful for you. Good luck! Stay warm!
