I shared here a week or two ago about my knee and some thought gout. I don't think it is gout. I've read some about bursitis and think it could be that as the article actually said "can affect the base of big toe and side of knee" which is exactly where it hurts.

Anyway, I don't take pills unless there is absolutely no choice left, but lastnight I tried some Advil. It worked on the pain. So, that leads me to believe it is inflamation causing the pain(Advil is antinflamatory). Now to see if I can find some herbs(alternatives to pills)that will not just take down the inflamation, but also, get rid of the liquid "buildup" in my knee. I hear on Dr. Weil's forums, that tumeric(put it in tea)helps?? Anyone try this??

My symptoms:
burning pain when pressure is applied to knee and toe(even have to be careful pulling on jeans)
numbness of the skin and probably a little below the surface but not enough to take away pain
shock feeling if I touch around the "bad" area(like electrical shock).

I cannot afford a doctor so please no one tell me I "should" see one. I know that is what is best but I have no insurance or money to do that. Thanks all, I know you mean well but it just hurts to be reminded of my poverty level:sad:   :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
PS But thank God it doesn't cost money to lose weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeeehaw:wink:

Tumeric is good and so is Nettle Tea. It can be bought at a health food store. I understand the problems with medical care in the US but as an alternative, is there a bowen therapist or an accupuncturist in your area that could help you?

You might find either of these good alternatives

Thank you Vicky, I will look into the Nettle Tea also! Cayenne was also mentioned. Was hoping to find someone with the same "ailment" that's tried the alternative method. Maybe they will pop in and see my post, hope, hope, hope:laugh: :flowerforyou: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Thank you again darlin, denise:bigsmile:

Okay, I am an RN so you know where I stand-but a Doctor of Chinese medicine well respected came to us for treatment of this same symptom- we aspirated fluid sent it for analysis and confirmed gout. He did not use his own accupuncture treatment. Gout can be helped with dietary control also-Goos Luck Old RN
