How many cals should I eat..?

I recently just changed my goal from losing 1 pound a week to 1.5 and I upped my exercise to four times a week at 45 minutes. MFP said for my weight I needed to eat 1,930 calories a day. However I love seeing a big number of remaining calories and feel bad when I eat over 1200 calories. Today I thought I'd start with exercise (done yoga and stretching so far) and than plan my day up until lunch. The bad news is I only have about 612 calories remaining for the day then.

Is it bad to want it to be at 1200 when I'm supposedly supposed to be eating 1,930...?
What would you do?

Eat 1,930 calories. Food = pleasure + fuel for my body, what's not to love?

I'm worried if I eat that much..or even closed to it I won't be successful. Truth is, I love to eat...I'm just afraid of what will happen if I do.

I agree, if you can eat 1930 calories and lose weight then do it. You will lose weight and get fit and healthy and be able to eat a great varied diet on those calories. Good luck x

It is a life style change not a diet.

Eat healthy eat most of your 1930 calories.

Dont cheat, or at least not very often. Learn comfort foods, get them out of house.

    Cheers

How many calories are you eating now? Try eating 100-200 calories more for a week or two and see what happens. If you're still losing, rince and repeat until you reach 1900! :)

I've gone from 1200 cals to 1500 calories in 2 steps without any major damage to weight loss (I'm also eating most of my exercise calories).

    Eat it and enjoy it.

The way I look at it, if you can lose weight on 1900+, do it. If you lose weight on 1200, your body will get used to surviving on greatly reduced calories. That means that when you reach your goal and go on maintenance, you'll have likely negatively affected your metabolism, and will HAVE to continue to eat reduced calories to maintain your weight.

Food is fuel. The more you have the more you will burn. The only thing you are doing by eating 1200 calories is maintain your fat and burning muscle. And since muscle contols yoir metabolism you are slowing down your metabolism.

why not then change your goal to 2 lbs/week, this will give you 1680 (1930-250), but make sure you eat all 1680.
  • Eat the higher amount. Just fill it up with healthy foods. Healthy NON-PROCESSED foods. Chicken, lean beef, turkey, pork. Cottage Cheese, Greek Yogurt, granola, veggies, fruits. It's not hard to come up with that many calories if you're eating healthy. Your body will love you for it and you'll look amazing!
