HUMOR-- Water-"Chalk"-Boarding

So, I'm a college professor, and I have gotten in the habit of taking a huge bottle of water to class, which I sip throughout my 2-hour class lecture/discussion. When I get near the end of class, I tend to finish up whatever is left in the bottle.

So, the other day, with a good 40 minutes left in the class, I tried to start a class discussion on our recent readings assignment and was met by the cricket-quiet of a class that had obviously not done the readings. After a few uncomfortable moments of silence, one of the wise-guys in the back row started chanting quietly, "chug! chug! chug! chug!. " A few more students joined in, and in a matter of seconds, half of the class was chanting along.

Mystified, I asked the initiating student, "what the heck are you all 'chug'-ing about."

He answered, "well, at the end of class, you always chug your water--so I thought if you chugged NOW class would be over!"
