On January 29th I'll have a race to run- my best friend and I are running a 10K. I have lost my motivation pretty much. I got to a new low weight and then it basically all went out the window. I'm trying... (WAIT...that is the problem right there- why TRY? Why not just do?). Okay- TODAY I am starting again... I'm sticking to my calories, or a little under and I'm exercising tonight. I am doing my 30 minutes of running & I'm doing some kettlebell training. Why is it so hard to get back on track when you fall off?? I am so frustrated- I could have lost so much more weight by now. ARGh. All I know right now, is that on January 29th when I'm running the 10K and my goal is to be at 200 lbs by then that I'm giong to be EXTREMELY frustrated with myself if I didn't train && if I threw it all away for no reason.

    Good luck!! a few things....

Just be sure to eat enough calories! I consistenly eat between 1600-2000 calories a day, and I've lost 92.4 pounds since january 1, 2011.

Also, do strength training (including kettlebells -- LOVE THEM!) 2-3 days a week, but be sure to rest your muscles for at least a day in between....

do strength training before cardio to burn calories more effectively.

Eat lots of protein, and try to avoid carbs, especially starchy carbs later in the day....

work out even when you don't want to - but remember rest is as important as working out....

    You can do it!

Make sure you are doing all that and out running, timing your runs and thinking every day of the totally humiliated look on your friend's face when she comes in BEHIND you.

    That'll keep you motivated!
