I'm getting thinner but squishy...help!

Hey guys,
I am FINALLY starting to lose a little weight! AWESOME! BUT...I carry most of my weight in my lower body. I figure doing strength training is what I need, but what should I be doing? I'm glad that I'm losing weight and all, but I do NOT want to be squishy. lol When I was fatter, I was tighter. Weird. My butt was a solid hunk, but now it's getting all soft.
Am I losing muscle or something? What's going on? How can I fix this?
How can I tighten it all back up again? Mostly my butt and thighs. My tummy's been squishy for a while. Lol along with my muffin top. but anyway...HELP! lol

Yep. Look into a good strength training program, like New Rules of Lifting for Women or Starting Strength. There are also workouts available on bodybuilding.com and you can youtube videos to preview specific exercises and learn proper form.
