My darling friend wants to take me out tomorrow for a late birthday dinner (my b-day was in November) and we decided since I have never been before it's a must that I go to the cheesecake factory.....Well being the fabulous person I am becoming:bigsmile: I figure I need to plan ahead. So has anyone been there and succeeded on not going over plan or can you recommend a meal for me. With learning how to eat better I am trying new meals so I really admire you guys feedback:blushing: !! Thanks!

Just make sure you pay attention to how many servings are in a dish! Appetizers are 2-4 servings per plate.

I've been there a few times and the food is ridiculously good. I've never tried a lower cal option (if they have any) because when I get to go I order what I want and just make up for it the rest of the week.

So sorry, I can't recommend anything healthier on the menu.
  • id say go for it and then just get back on your diet.. if its a birthday thing ya know. you dont wanna become so consumed with your diet that youre missing out on social stuff.. id say as long as your diet is on point 95% of the time you cant go wrong... unless your dieting for a fitness comp or something

If you feel you need to avoid most of the food, pick another place to go. You can't gain that much weight on one meal.

See if you and the other people going can scope out the menu ahead of time and split some items, too, so you can get the good stuff in smaller portions.

I would work out extra hard the day before, of and after. If you burn it all off, you don't need to sweat one night of indulgence!

You're in luck. CF has a "skinny" meny. Dinners for under 600 calories. I recommend the BBQ chicken and veggies.

One day, thanks to a decent workout, I was able to have Cheesecake Factory dinner AND cheesecake and still stay under my calories for the day. Anything is possible if you plan ahead and stay focused.

its your birthday meal! those calories obviously don't count!

Just enjoy yourself, one day off is not going to kill ya and really its only one meal :) happy birthday

ive always wanted to go to the cheesecake factory IM SO JELOUS!
  • Does your friend know that you are trying to lose weight, and if so, is the friend sympathetic? Then order whatever you want, ask the server to bring you a takeout container and put away half your serving and eat the other half the next day. Same goes for the cheesecake. My friends never minded when I did that...in fact they started doing the same!

You get huge portions, ask for half your meal boxed right away. Then you'll only have half the calories and you'll have lunch for tomorrow. I know they also have cheese cake that is lower in carbs. Have a fun dinner!

I had a something from the skinny menu and it was so delicious. I think it was like 500 calories, and I drank water with lemon in it. You will be okay.

There are TONS of choices on the skinnylicious menu. There's no reason to avoid cheesecake factory any more!!! I've had the tuscan chicken and the mexican tortilla salad and the chicken potstickers and they were all lovely.

    Enjoy yourself!

Was going to recommend this. I also had a New Orleans style Shrimp dinner. Entire dinner was 730 cals. Split in half, have a salad and stay away from appetizers. You'll be set :)
  • i LOVE the skinnylicious menu! i had their burger, no mayo with a small side salad with a little ranch = 580 Cals and it felt like a true meal!

The food on their skinny menu is really good. I love the grilled chicken w/brown rice, asparagus, and arugula salad. Very tasty!

Thank you all. Browsed the menu and yes options, options, options, all the suggestions also sound pretty darn good!! I want some cheesecake so half my meal will be boxed right away as suggested. My friend is also dieting (and doing great may I add) so I'm sure we can probably split one. She said she wasn't counting not one calorie tomorrow so I have to see how that goes over with her...LOL. Thanks so much for your feedback it is always appreciated.

I wouldn't eat dinner there! EVERYTHING is loaded with calories, fat, and sodium. If you're going to eat light there you may as well eat at home anyway. I say eat at home and then go there for coffee and cheesecake, that way you can have one indulgence without going crazy over on calories etc.

We went there for my birthday. I ordered the White Chicken Chili off of the SkinnyLicious menu, and it may have been the best thing I've ever eaten there. It was wonderful, and under 600 calories. Of course, I followed it up with a slice of original cheesecake, which was also wonderful. Hey, it was my birthday!

This is how I feel as well.. Trust me you will all be shocked at my birthday dinner, I will be hitting it hard the week before and harder the week after but the week of... look out :embarassed:
  • Love that place! The closest one is 3 hours away which is probly a good thing! I would say enjoy your meal- just pick really healthy options the rest of your day and get back to your reg diet the next day. Happy Birthday late :)
  • Know that anything you get there is enough to feed two adults, VERY fully! Maybe you two could split a meal? That's what my boyfriend and I do. :)
