I would rather do yoga then go to the gym.I find it very relaxing I feel my body is much more tone. But in order to lose weight is this better then 'going to the gym".
I do fatburning yoga, hatha, vinayasa, their constant movement 6 days a week for 45 to 120 mintues per day.

My HRM says on Monday when I did 84min of yoga that I burned 363 calories. The first 45 min is vinasyas and stuff, then balancing, then streching and relaxation so I think I burn the most in the first 45.

Yoga is great for your body, but it does not burn alot of calories. My doctor said that I should NOT count it towards cardio, which I should get a minimum of 30 minutes each day. In an hour my hrm says I burn less than 200 for a yoga class. I burn 600 in a 50 minute spin class...HUGE difference. I love yoga too but when it comes down to bang for your buck I am going with the calorie burn!

I burned 170 cals in a 40 min yoga class today focused on stretching and stability.
Not a lot of bang for your buck, caloricly speaking.
    However, SO beneficial healthwise.
I went to stretch and relax after lots and lots of cardio recently.

ah tough to say without a HRM Hon, you're covering alot of the good ones! Vinassa burns MUCH more than Hatha but I love that because it's so relaxing, then if you do Yoga with the temp way up (sorry forgot the name of that one temporarily:blushing: ) you will burn WAY WAY more... Hot box Yoga is what friends call it:laugh:

Sorry can't help give ya a calorie burn, plus each of our bodies is so very different. If I did the hot yoga at my weight I would burn MUCH MUCH more than someone weighing 90 lbs. Anyone in your class wearing a HRM that is similar in size to you? That might help you guage a bit:flowerforyou:

Thanks. I just really do not enjoy the other traditional workout. I get bored and I try not to look at the clock:laugh: I guess I need and HRM.
