Can eating better make me gain weight?

For the last three days I've been eating non-processed food 95% of the time (also less than 1500mg sodium, less sugar and less carbs). Basically, I threw out the bread and replaced it with brown rice, got tossed the ketchup and replaced with crushed tomatoes, etc... And I feel WORLDS better.

However, now that my diet is filled with veggies and missing cereal etc.. I find myself hungry ALL THE TIME. Seriously, an hour after after I eat I am incredibly hungry.

I find that I eat more, but it's healthier food... Why does this happen?? Could having extra food in the form of veggies and lean meats etc cause weight gain?

Thanks :)

If you eat more calories than you burn you will gain weight.

Each meal/snack should have some fats and carbs and protein in it. without it you'll be hungrier sooner. Also make sure you're drinking a lot of water. don't just have an apple, have an apple and a tbsp of peanut butter, don't just have a banana, have a banana and yogurt. eat full fat yogurt instead of fat free etc. you can make healthier choices that still have the protein and fats your body wants/needs.

I bet your not eating enough calories of the good stuff. Calories matter. If you have a cup of broccoli is 40 calories, but a cup of pasta with chicken is as much as 300 calories. A cup of pasta with chicken will fill me up a lot more than a cup of broccoli. I think it's because of the calories.
  • eat more protein. it keeps you fuller longer so try and hand full of nuts when u get hungry in between meals or anything that has a higher protein number. and eat bigger amounts in your meals. give that a try :) hope it helps. almonds are one of my favorites to help me feel full :)

Extra calories will make you gain weight.
The kind of food you are eating will certainly affect your health, so well done for making healthy changes.

Bear in mind that the scale can fluctuate for all kinds of reasons - water retention, monthly cycle, amount of exercise.... lots of reasons.
Keep eating well, within your calorie allowance and it should balance out.
