Hello! :D I am new here, and I'm looking for a friend on here who can motivate me and whom I can motivate in return.

So, you are probably wondering who I am and why I'm here, right? I am a twenty-year old college student majoring in philosophy. I'm also extremely interested in foreign languages (and currently studying Chinese). I'm here because I want to lose twenty or thirty pounds. I think it would be easiest to help someone with a similar goal, but having a similar goal is not necessary for being my friend on here. :)

So, if you would like to help each other, please reply to this or message me and tell me a little about yourself. I look forward to hearing from you. :D

Bom dia! :) I'm happy that I saw your post when I did! ^_^ It attracted me because the languages in your heading are four that I speak :) I'm Hispanic, and studied Japanese and Chinese in high school, then took a semester of it in community college. When I go back to get my B.A., I'll probably continue with Chinese :3 It's nice to hear that you're majoring in philosophy (I never hear that! :D); I've toyed with double majoring in philosophy and psychology ^_^

I just moved out to Ohio from the East Coast about a month ago, and this is my second round at weight loss. I first tried five years ago, and I lost thirty pounds with the help of a trainer and lots of cardio. I gained back 15 pounds, and since then I've always wanted to try again. I've lost 14 pounds in the past two months, which is really exciting for me, and I am hoping to get down to 115 by next June.

Currently, I'm not doing any exercise, just monitoring my calories and drinking water/tea like no tomorrow. Weigh in once a week; measurements once a month. For being a high-strung person, I think the "no pressure" approach is working out best with me. I also tend to keep to myself about my journey. All my friends and family know, but it's not something that I tend to discuss with them, just because I don't really think they'd get it. It builds a sense of camaraderie when you talk about what you're going through with others who are in the same boat as you.

I'm glad you found your way to MFP, L! Hope to see more of you around here :)

    Ate mais tarde!

    Ni hao from Athens, Greece!

I did study a little of Chinese as I was working in a chinese multinational company but never had enough time for it - and it needs a lot dedication! I have also travelled to China and loved it! :)

I am also on a weight losing trip but I mainly joined MFP because I want this to be a lifetime change and not just a diet I will do for a few months. I love motivating and being motivated and you will come to realise how much supportive most of MFPs are and how things are getting easier with this support!

I'd love to get to know you better so feel free to add me if you wish!

Guten Tag!!! I'm a 19 year old college student in a bit of a weight loss rut right now, but hey, most of us hit that point sometime!!!! I'm currently studying my butt off for finals, so I dont really have time for the gym, and I'm watching my food intake to make up for it. I started off at 195 and gradually made my way to 149 over th course of the year!!!

It's really cool to find someone interested in languages! I'm a german major, and will be taking my first japanese class next semester! So excited!!!

Welcome to MFP!!!! Viel Spass!!!! :D

Hello, everyone! It's great to hear from you all. :D

I am currently in China studying Chinese. :) It is very fun, but I will go back to the States in about one month. By the way, if you want to go to China, I highly recommend it.

Jen: I studied Spanish for 3 years in high school, but I'm afraid I have forgotten most of what I learned. :( I want to go back and study it again, though. I also have a friend who knows what my goals are. I talk to her about it sometimes and she's really great about listening, but I think that it would be much more helpful to talk to someone who is in the same boat, too. I'm also currently not doing exercise because I'm in North China right now -- it's freezing cold outside, I don't have a gym membership, and I'm leaving in a month, so it's not worth the money to buy one... But when I go back, I will have access to a gym every day at my college. So, I plan to start exercising in January. :D

Olymp1a: I would also like to get to know you better! Let's support each other on our journeys!

KittyGamer: Wow! You've already lost a lot! That's great! I am also in a bit of a rut, so let's help each other out. :D
