losing weight for someone else

I was thinking about this on the way to work this morning. My fiance and I just ended our 3 year relationship and I was thinking of how thankful I was that I didn't do what I used to do and let myself go. I am actually now thinner than I have been in a very long time and this makes me feel good that I did it for myself and now I am ready to hit the dating scene with no extra ahem...work to do. But then this also made me think of some people I have seen on here usually young girls that are losing weight so their boyfriend will like them more, or so they can look like someone their bf likes. Bad idea, very very bad idea. If being a certain weight or looking a certain way keeps someone around then it is for the wrong reasons and you are only delaying your ultimate happiness. If you have to fit into a certain mold to keep someone and this mold isnt' you then as you get older it will be harder and harder to do it and not being yourself will really affect your long term happiness. Now I wasn't even losing weight for my fiance and I am thinner now than ever and we still aren't together, why, because in the end it's not about how you look it's about who you are. So ladies if you are losing weight for someone else just to try to be what you think he wants, you will never truly be happy because you won't be yourself and you will have to spend the rest of your life swimming upstream to keep up with something that was never meant to be anyway. I know most people will read this and totally know and agree with this already, and the people that need this knowledge probably won't want to accept it and will have to find out for themselves anyway, but If I could reach and help just one person so they wouldn't have to learn the hard way then that makes it worth my time writing this.........which turned out to be much longer than I thought lol.

Right on! :) I truly wish more people did it for themselves and not someone else. It feels better if it's for just you.

    Amen, so true!

My fiancee has seen me at all sizes, and loves me anyway for who I am. With my new fitness/healthy lifestyle, he supports it, but has basically said "I love you anyway, but I know that you're doing this for you, so that makes me happy too."

See this is cool because you know he will love you no matter and losing weight is just perks for him and he has proven he earned them lol.
