Exercising calories you haven't eaten today

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how this affects metabolism. I ate a 150 calorie breakfast and then exercised 300 calories off. Is it bad for my metabolism to exercise off more calories than I've eaten today. In other words, should I try to eat another 150 calories before I exercise next time? I didn't feel like I needed those calories (hunger wise), but if it helps my body know that it's secure-i.e., doesn't need to burn muscle--I wouldn't mind using those calories earlier.

Those sound like really smart questions!

I've always tried to eat back the calories, but don't always. It is good to follow the "if you are hungry then eat" rule, but so many of us need to learn how to feel hunger sensations and eat acccordingly. So maybe experiment with eating some calories even though you are not stomach grumbling and "hungry".

How is effects metabolism is a real personal thing.....It can slow you down but from what I've read, only after repeatedly under-eating.

I think it is good to experiment and figure out what works and what doesn't for yourself......look back on your own personal history or losing and gaining. Maybe an answer can be found there.

    Best :)
