OW is right! I always cut myself when peeling vegetables - I've been taken off potato duty around the holidays - so I feel your pain.0
-
Yeah, but if you slice vegetables regularly you almost never cut yourself (at least I don't).0

you usually have to pay good money for that sort of thing. :laugh:0 -
I always curse my knives when I get cut.0

Stick w/ RED peppers and no one will know...
Geesh, guess that's better than what my hubby's solution would be:
Just be MORE CAREFUL and it won't happen0 -

On a few episodes of either Top Chef or one of the other competitive shows they actually do wear something like these when butchering, especially with the machines.
First thing I'll say to everyone is that if you are using a dull knife you are more likely to cut yourself. If it can't slice through a piece of computer paper it's not sharp enough. Get yourself a good sharpener for $20 at Bed Bath & Beyond. Now that I keep mine sharpened I rarely cut myself and when I do it's because I'm not paying attention!0 -

I agree. However, I do not think veggies are as dangerous as cans. Both of my sons have gotten cut on a can while using a can opener and both needed stitches. The ER doc suggested I get an automatic can opener.0 -
Yup. Been there with a mandoline a couple of times. :laugh:0

I still have no fingerprints on the ring finger of my left hand, due to an ONION cutting incident many years ago.
and I HATE onions...................................don't eat 'em, don't like 'em.
Was being a good wife and cooking them for the hubby (who is now the 'x' hubby, btw0 -

LOL.
Truthfully, if you have Crohn's, veggies ARE bad for you (well, raw ones...)0 -
The second time I ever used my mandolin-slicer, I sliced a huge chunk off of my thumb. Ironically, I was on the phone with my husband saying, "I LOVE this thing! I can't believe I waited so long to get one. Damn! (pause, pause, pause) I gotta let you go." :laugh:0

ROTFL!!!!! too funny0 -
At least you were not slicing hot peppers! I did that once grating jalapenos with a box grater for my coleslaw. The only thing that numbed the burning was beer.
A 6 pack and I felt much better!0
