So a quick question about pant sizing. mens pants are sized by two's; 30, 32, 34...etc. if i went from a size 44 to a size 36 did i lose 8 pant sizes or if i count by two's did i lose 4 pant sizes... just curious. thanks

Losing sizes is more for women's clothing, which uses some crazy number system that has nothing to do with the inches involved in the piece of clothing.

You lost 8 inches around your waist. Well done.

Mens go by inches of waist band so you lost 8inches off your stomach.

Once you get down into the 28-34 range, you can find odd numbers in some brands. Not important to this topic, per se, but they do exist.

I think you can say you've lost 8 pant-sizes. Women's clothes are typically sized in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) so every 2 inches is more or less a pant size for us. Either way, congrats!
