I didn't drink enough water, so I'm "hungry"

Today I ate a lot (95 calories above my goal, before dinner) and the reason was I didn't drink enough (I have a 2qt bottle of ice green tea, that remained untouched)

Of course, when I remember to drink, I eat quite a bit less....

Live and learn.

eh, 95 cals... barely rounding error

eta: by the way, assuming that you're aiming for a 500 cal deficit, you realize you still have a 405 cal deficit today, right?. :)

Also, we sometimes confuse the hungry and thirsty signals from the brain - we may THINK we're hungry when we are actually thirsty - just another reason to stay hydrated! That way we can make SURE we are really only eating when we're actually hungry, and not misinterpreting signals!

I regularly deviate +/- 1,000 calories day to day. The weekly average usually comes within a couple hundred though.
  • so true....when I concentrate on drinking my water, I feel so much better, and eat a lot less. I am a teacher's aide, and I usually travel from room to room throughout the day, and I ALWAYS take a re-fillable water bottle with me. It controls hunger and headaches are almost non-existant. (I used to drink a lot of caffinated drinks)

Agreed, 100 calories give or take is not the end of the world. After dinner, I'll will end with 600-700 calories above my goal, but I still have to go to the gym, so some quality time on the elliptical will take care of the extra. But it is much easier for me not to eat any extra if I drink lots of water (or green tea)

Thanks for the reminder - drinking the water is key to weight loss with any program. Why? Because THE STOMACH IS STUPID! Filling it with cold water twenty minutes before a meal makes it think "Oh, why am I even eating? I'm not hungry?" Whiuch reminds me - I'm gonna go drink two glasses of water RIGHT NOW before I go meet my wife and my granddaughter for dinner!
