AAAAAAAAgggghhhh! I hate these shorter days that come with winter :grumble:

How do you manage to wake up before the sun and get a workout in? Any tips?

I set my alarm this morning to do some Jillian Michaels before heading out to work and I hit snooze a few times before actually getting up :embarassed: ...and not having enough time to fit in the workout

I'll have time later today to get in some exercise, but I'd love to be able to fit in some before work in the mornings...

I get up at 5:45, and even that is a struggle, so I can't wake up any earlier to fit a workout in. However, I bike to work which is a little bit of exercise (it's also the fastest way to get there, which is a good incentive). If you're not a morning person I don't think you need to be getting up at 4am to work out-- just do it some other time when you have more energy.

I set my alarm for 440am. I don't allow myself to press snooze. To get on track (when I change things up and do evening workouts) I the first couple days are hard. I just remind myself the first 2 days are the worse but after that it gets easier. I leave and go to the gym but when it's below zero it makes it even harder. I don't do well with home workouts so it's easier to know I'm getting out of the house when I wake up. I spend all day at home with 12 kids so I really enjoy my breaks.

I don't. I would love love love to be one of those people who wakes up at the buttcrack of dawn and gets their workout in, but I just have not found the motivation yet. I have to be at work by 7am, which means just to get ready and get there I need to be up no later than 545. Add my normal workout routine on to that and I'd be setting my alarm for damn near 4am. Absolutely not.

It works for some people--I have a few friends who sleep in their workout clothes so they are already in them when they wake up and they have to workout. I've tried that before, but it didn't make any difference. To those morning workout people I say, 'You're my frickin' hero! Good for you!!' but it's just not happening for me. Yet. Maybe one day. Let me know if you find something that works!

Maybe 8 months ago, I had a solid three months of every day 5am workouts. I was getting up at 4:30, driving to the gym, working out from 5-6am. I loved it, but it took me several weeks to get used to it, and at that point it was just automatic. Mind you, I got thrown of course and haven't been back much since, but if it weren't for the snag I hit (moving, living with in-laws, etc) I think I would have kept it up. So I guess make sure you go to bed early, stretch when you wake up, and I found making sure everything was ready to go and set up (clothes are laid out, so there is minimal effort haha) helped!

I totally hear you about the whole waking up without the sun up thing. I drive and hour to and from work so I leave in the dark and get home in the dark. Makes it hard to get exercise outside!
