So it finally snowed a decent, but non hazardous snow here in the south west portion of the Mitten and it has me feelin all festive! Not to mention, Frosty the Snowman will be on CBS tonight at 8pm. Love watching Christmas shows.

One tradtion to watch Wizard of Oz....not sure why but it is...
And I started one with my daughter of watching "Its a Wonderful Life"

What's your Christmas tradition?

hahaha funny you just posted this after my little tanturm on FB ...

    Holiday traditions:
    Watching in this order..
    A Christmas Story
    The Grinch
    Charlie Brown's Christmas
    Miracle on 34th Street
and A Christmas story 3 more times..

I wish we had snow... so far all we have is a whole lot of ice and brown grass. and cold.. its LAME.
  • When I was a kid, my grandmother and I used to lay in bed and we would watch Home Alone. To this day, I watch it a few times a year, and call her everytime. Also, I have to watch the Nutcracker on Christmas Eve after going to a relative's house. It's nothing major, but it definately feels off without it.

Also, my favorite thing to do is listen to Nat King Cole's christmas album while baking cookies. It brings back happy memories =)

I say both, always have and always will, I have yet to meet 1 single person that has ever been offended by me wishing them a merry Christmas, and 5 of my close friends are athiests... its a saying... who cares you know?

I am honestly just tired of every other post being that.. I have blocked majority of the people's **** on my news feed and then a new person starts.. eventually I am going to have 3 people's status' in my news feed because my friends are annoying me lol

I wish it would snow here already! I'm in New England and we always have snow... but none so far!
I nice drop of a foot before Christmas would be great.

Our tradition is to go find the perfect live Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving. Last year we found one in the woods and cut it down. It didn't turn out to make the best tree for ornaments so this year we went to a tree farm and they cut the one we chose - much better, not shedding nearly as much, and still fresh cut.

I watch Elf & the Grinch every year. Every year I start to watch a Christmas Story but have yet to watch it start to finish, not sure why.

This year we are going to the Nutcracker, haven't been since I was a kid.

Our new tradition is to go see the Nutcracker in San Francisco for my birthday/ christmas gift (b-day is 12/11)--this is the second year...

Christmas Eve we always spend having snacks and opening gifts with Hubby's Mom and then later we watch ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE which is something I used to do with my mom every year. Christmas day we used to spend with my Mom but since she has passed away we watch The Christmas Carol ( this year we are watching the movie Scrooge with Jim Carrey) and then we go to our Best Friends' house for traditional Singapore dinner.

We watch White Christmas on Christmas eve while we are cooking dinner and baking cookies every year!! Normally christmas day is for watching the classic christmas shows like frosty santa clause is coming to town etc. Cant wait!!!! Only 15more days!!!!!!!
  • One movie that has made it's way into traditional Christmas viewing for me- Mixed Nuts with Steve Martin. So stupid, but funny and heartwarming.
My new favorite Christmas CD- Christmas With The Rat Pack. You will not be disappointed!
An old Christmas tradition (I'm Polish) is the breaking of the Oplatek (Christmas Wafer) on Christmas Eve. You can google it for how it's done. It's a wonderful thing, and the Wafers are usually available at any Catholic Church or many religious stores.
While I'm at it, is there anyone who hasn't listened to Mitch Miller's Christmas Sing Along album when they were a kid?
Here's hoping everyone has a happy holiday season!
