Running vent...

Argh! So a little background: I graduated from C25K the first week of November (didn't repeat or skip weeks, no problems, found it moderately challenging) and ran a 5K the day I graduated. Had a great time of 35:47 considering the course was ALL anaerobic hills! After my first race, I was addicted, and so I did a 4 mile Turkey Trot a couple weeks ago. Had a time of 43:56 and ran the whole way, and I even sprinted the last quarter mile! This of course made me even more super excited, so now I'm training to run longer distances. We received my recently deceased mother-in-law's treadmill this past week, and I was looking forward to having a treadmill at home to run on. (I prefer running outside, but now that it's gotten dark so early I can only do it on the weekends. During the weekdays I have to drive half an hour to the gym.) But recently I've only been able to run for about half the time I usually do! It's pitiful! It's like this treadmill is twice as hard to run on! I don't know if it's because the belt sticks when my weight is on it or what. Or maybe my mind is bored just staring at the wall. I go outside and I'm fine. I guess I'm just frustrated, and it's a real downer when I was doing so well and all of a sudden I can barely do a couple miles. I just needed to vent to people who could understand my frustration...

Does anyone else have this problem with low quality treadmills? If so, do you know any solutions? Also, for those who run outside: What do you do in the rain? I'm afraid to ruin my shoes by running in the rain. And do you get blisters from having wet shoes?

I feel the same way. I've only run outside twice but I feel like it's easier that running on the treadmill. I kind of dread the treadmill now.

Treadmill running sucks!!! I have had to switch to it too and have the same frustrations...I just blogged about that very thing yesterday.
