Hi everybody!! To date I have lost 146 lbs. I have a goal of 140 and I am 5'5". I have lost this since jan 24th 2011 and I wanted to be at goal by that date next yr but I'm not trying to push it. But I am so sick of the don't lose anymore weight ppl!!! I've had several people including my bf say this to me. I am still classified as overweight and til I hit 150 I won't even be at a healthy BMI. My question for them is where was the don't gain any more weight comments when I was 300 lbs???? I do have extra skin so it makes me look bigger than I am but I do need and want to lose more. It drives me nuts. My bf likes bigger women. When we first met (weren't dating) I was around 220 and he said I looked beautiful then and I do now but he doesn't want me to lose my curves. My sister is the only one who hasn't said this to me which is surprising because she is kind of upset now that I'm smaller than her. I just want to be healthy and fit. I know I will need plastic surgery for the extra skin but I have more to lose. Its my body and I have NEVER been this thin in my life. Guess this is more of a rant but what would u do in this case?

    Rant away! LOL

I wanted to say that you may not need surgery for excess skin! I read quite a lot about that because it was my biggest fear as I lose. Most articles I've looked at indicate that the saggy skin is saggy because there are still "pockets" of fat. So when you hit goal... if you have saggy skin....keep going you still have fat to lose. This is why you will see people say that strength training helps saggy skin. They have shifted their focus at goal weight. The weight may stay the same as you gain muscle and continue burning fat.

The article that really made me a believer (I think was from the mayo clinic or another medical institute because they are the only ones I bother with) is that if you pinch the skin on the back of your hand...that's how thick skin it (with the exception of your palms and soles). If your saggy skin is thicker than that then it contains fat and you should continue working on burning fat. I'm really hoping for myself that those articles are correct! I know when I was very thin...the skin on my belly was much "thinner" than it is now so fingers crossed it's true =)
  • I know exactly how you feel!!!! Don't let them get you down. When Hubby and I met I was right at 200 so he was with me (obviously) when I gained 50 lbs with our son and then 30 lbs with our daughter ( I had back to back pregnancies) I am currently the smallest I have been since we met 3 years ago. He always say he loves me the way I am but knows I want to be happy so he is supportive in making that happen. Good luck and if you want a healthy bmi then go for it.

I'd keep going. I've had ones say I'll be too skinny and such...I could care less for what they say, its for my health and I'd also like to be in a normal BMI.
