Lost Weight - at 130/120 lbs - Belly Button?

So I have noticed that just above my belly button there is a small inward dent that's appeared. It's about as big as the tip of my little finger.

Does anyone else have this? I've never had it before because I've never been this skinny in my life. But it just seemed so weird when I first noticed it!

Do you have kids? I have this but it was caused by the stomach muscles separating when I was pregnant. I was very thin then so it was very noticeable but the doctor said it was fairly common and nothing to worry about. It wasn't painful or anything...just another body change that some pregnant women experience.

My 2 year old daughter has the exact same thing! She has had it for a little while now, and I had it looked at before, but thinking about having it checked out again. Someone told me that it almost seems like a hernia. Which is what I was thinking. It looks exactly like a dent right above her belly button. I have never seen anyone else have that.

Oh no, that sounds quite scary.

Yeah, it looks really odd, and not normal, so better make sure, just in case it is a hernia. Does yours hurt at all?

She seems to act like hers is a little sore when I touch it, but she tends to be a little drama queen about everything as well, so you never know with her!! LOL It's never gave her any trouble, but still want to get it looked at. :)

No mine doesn't hurt at all!

I have a very skinny friend who I am seeing later, so I am going to ask her if she has the same thing.
  • Is it a a vertical "dent" or a horizontal one?

I've noticed a horizontal one lately too. I've lost a reasonable amount of weight, and honestly have probably never been this thin even as a child.

For me, it's the loss of fat just above my belly button - but the skin/tissue around the belly button itself doesn't have a lot of fat - more scar tissue internal, so it's position can't change as much. It's also why, being an "innie" no matter how skinny I get, I'll never be an "outtie"

    Hope this helps.

I have a hernia.. and it certainly does not dent inwards .. It protrudes a good 1-2 inches or more. Mine is from having my twins. Most likely if its a dent its not a hernia. My hernia has no pain at all.. as most umbilical hernias are painless.. unless its becoming strangled.
  • did you figure out whats up with your belly button because i have that too and im paranoid i'm pregnant.
