Languishing Lunges!

Lunges have become extremely painful for me. My knees are killing me (extended knee). Left knee hurts more than right.

I've tried changing positions, wider stance, shorter stance, lean forward, lean backward - but it just freakin' hurts.
They are enough of a part of bootcamp and other classes for me that I don't want to just give up.

Any suggestions?
