So i just got mine out yesterday, lovely and i'm nervous for my diet. Yesterday I didn't eat anything except liquids like milkshakes, unhealthy ones because that was recommended, should I worry about even though it was under my calories, the unhealthy-ness?

I think you're okay. Yes, you don't want to go around drinking unhealthy milkshakes all the time, but what can you do? You can't chew! :P Just stick with what you can get into your system for now, and worry about your calorie count and nutrition once you can eat solid foods. Maybe you can try yogurt or something with a BIT more nutritional value, too.0

Just do what you have to do until you are healed. I had a wisdom tooth extracted (emergency) last March. I had a hell of a time with it and ended up with a dry socket. Do what you have to do until it is healed enough to eat normally. Quite honestly? This isn't the time to be worrying about anything but healing and being healthy.0

I am having 3 out four days before Xmas spare a thought for me!
I just hope I can manage my dinner Xmas day
No need for unhealthy shakes anyway what's wrong with soup, protein shakes etc thats what I plan on having!0 -
For now, do whatever your doctor told you to do. I have mine out a few years ago and I ended up with dry sockets. It was right before I went on a 900 mile (one way) road-trip with my boyfriend to go to his cousin's wedding. He had to use a syringe to blast water into the holes to clean them out and then pack them with the world's nastiest tasting gel. He did that twice a day for the entire week we were gone. (Yes, I married him.) Even after healing, the scars still have little indentations that will collect food if I'm not careful.
Take your meds, eat whatever the doctor suggested and get healed (without going too overboard). Just try to maintain for a week or so and then you can go back to losing. In the long run, a few days of milkshakes and naps won't matter.0 -
I hope you're eating that milkshake with a spoon! No straws, don't want dry socket!
I had all four of mine out when I was I think 18, it was rough. I lived off of milkshakes and soups for a couple of days. Just take it easy. If you're really worried about the calories and whatnot, have someone go out and buy you a couple of cartons of fat free chicken broth - almost nonexistent calories in that stuff and you can warm it up in the microwave for something a little different than milkshakes. But really just for a couple of days, it's not going to totally derail your progress if you just eat whatever you need to eat in order to not feel like you're starving. Of course there are probably or healthier options you could eat that don't require chewing, maybe yogurt and other soft foods like applesauce.....
Hope you recover quickly and don't stress too much over it. :-)0 -
I had mine out a few years ago. Some health alternatives are mashed cauliflower (tastes like mashed potatoes), home made fruit shakes with yogurt and frozen fruit, soups and such.0

just dont drink your shakes from a straw--the sucking will pull your clots and end up with dry socket. you could try smoothies instead of shakes--oj, banana, frozen strawberries, throw in some yogurt and you get cool, easy to eat, healthy meal. Eat some applesauce, mashed potatoes, warm chicken broth. i suggest stay away from milkshakes was to not totally kill your diet. whole wheat pasta even goes down pretty easy. Im a dental hygienist and have aided many people thru this including family....you will get thru it! keep positive and keep healthy!0

I had mine out yesterday - all freakin' four of them.
I've been eating (no chewing, just swallowing small bites) scrambled eggs, refried beans and mousse. Feel free to check out my diary.
I've been under my calories by a lot because eating is frankly a huge pain in the *kitten*, but I'm not worried about it too much right now. Just take care of yourself and avoid sucking, slurping, swishing, spitting, etc...
Good luck. Trust me, I know how much this sucks.0
