So this is my first post but I am feeling like sharing some face pictures (not ready to share the full body pictures yet). Anyway I started my weight loss journey in June 2011 when I started the process for getting ready for gastric bypass. Over the months I lost more and more weight with just tracking my calories and some exercise. So now at about 1/2 the weight that I wanted to lose gone I have decided not to have the surgery because I am confident that I can do this on my own (this was a great relief to my husband and 2 sons). I'm feeling so much better and happier with myself. Thanks to all the inspiration from everyone who share their stories on MFP they have given me hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Okay so I can't figure out how to post picture so they are in the pictures on my profile page.

I am SO happy you decided to do this on your own. Surgery should be a life and death decision. If you can lose good on your own, why not do it? Im so proud of you. And you look amazing, confident and happy.0

Thanks. MFP has me at 1230 calories a day. I usually eat right around that. As for exercise 2 to 3 days a week I do 30 on the treadmill or exercise bike and some weight training targeting my stomach, hips and thighs.0

I can only imagine the relief of your family when you made the decision to not pursue with the surgery. You are a great testimony that nothing is impossible if you desperately need/want something done. Keep up the great work! You look younger now and your face just brighter too. Congratulations!0

I am so happy to hear that you are succesful on your own and tried this way before gastric bypass surgery. My husband and I have a friend who died of complications from gastric bypass surgery that he never should have had. I also have a friend whose mother had gatric bypass surgery and had extreme complications afterwords. You are doing it the right way and learning how to make this work for you for the long term. Keep it up and let Davids story (our friend) give you inspiration and motivation to stay the successful course you are on.0
