Hi everyone,
I just signed up for my first triathlon but I am a very weak swimmer. Does anyone know of a good website or training program to get me started?
Thanks!

I would join a Master's swimming club. You can find the closest one to you at this website:
http://www.usms.org/
They cater to all levels of swimmers and can help taylor workout regime for your goals.
I've been a swimmer all my life, and still swim with Master's everyday - love it!0 -
Not only that, have a swim instructor/coach review your form. They could point out changes that make sure you get the most out of your stroke/kick.0

I'm going to guess that you have access to a pool, but not necessarily to a trainer.
I use swimplan.com. You can join for free (seriously) and after timing a 100 yard swim (your pace), the site asks you how long you want to swim, what strokes you can swim, and what equipment you want to use, then they design a workout for you. You can change your workouts as much as you want, and add intensity as you get better.
I love it... jb0 -

Wow - that's cool. I didn't know about that site. Thanks for sharing!
For improving stroke and time - it really helps to have a coach watch and correct/direct your techique, then you can use swim plans to improve your endurance. It will be your technique that determines how fast you go, so it is very important to make sure you are doing freestyle (which is the stroke most people use in a race) in the most efficient manner.0 -
Good luck to you!! I got into triathlons last year and love it! I'm doing my first sprint tri of the season in June. I agree w/ the advice given. Work on your stroke and find someone that can help. I have 2 friends that are good swimmers so they helped me w/ my form. I still feel like I'm learning, but the best thing is to just get in the pool!
