Around eight months ago i got hired at my current job. I am 5'11" and i used to weigh 228 lbs at 22. The day i stepped on the scale and saw that number is the day i decided that it was the end of the line for my eating habits. I used to go out and party late, get drunk ( consume at least a 40 oz beer) and then end up in CARL's JR or some other fast food locations eating TWO spicy chicken sandwiches, some fries and a 16 oz coke. Now since my current job gave me health insurance i finally got to visit my physician and i got some advice on how to lose weight. My doctor recomended his diet that had even made it to "EXTRA" on tv which is called the "five bite diet". the trick was to skip breakfast, eat only five bites ( a little bit bigger than a chicken soft taco at el polo loco) for lunch and five bites for dinner. one of those bites was supposed to be protien. there needed to be a dosage of multivitamins to replace the one's missed from eating regularly. and also to cut out every sugar intake you had; no coke, no orange juice, no fruits, only coffee and diet drinks with 0 calories. NOW AS HORRIBLE AS MY DOCTOR MAY SEEM, he was actually right about how fast you can lose weight with this diet. i'm talking about 10-13 lbs a week. within a month of dieting (horribly, cheating once in a while) i went down to 205 lbs. that is from 218 lbs not 228; before seeing the doctor i was getting a healthy eating habit and excercising started so i went down quite a bit. JUST FOR THE RECORD I DID NOT KEEP THAT DIET FOR MORE THAN 20 DAYS BECAUSE I COULDN'T HANDLE SUCH A SHOCK. Now with running, a healthier diet, heavy protein intake and carb restrictions, i'm at 188lbs and have never felt better or been in a better shape!!! now that i look back, the only thing required of you to start losing weight is to have dedication. i believe it is the easiest thing to accomplish. no brain power whatsoever just will. good luck everyone. and stay healthy.

That sounds horrible! I don't even know how you could do it for 20 days. Wow, dedication I guess. Glad you've been successful and are healthy!0 -
MFP will help you SO MUCH wite tiger! please dont ever go back to that 'dr.' reccomended diet again. it cannot in any way be healthy for you.
MFP really does help. you already have the mindset to make your weight loss happen. you are already on the road to success. MFP will get you there, no problemo!
cheers to being tall! :drinker: i am 6'1!!!0 -
Yay tall girls!! I'm 5'11" too! So, I have to agree with everyone else on the "Dr. reccomended" diet. That doesn't sound healthy at all. What a shock to the system!! Not to mention that I would've gone looney from hunger!!! There's no way I could've survived on so few calories!!0
