Hey,
I have been thinking about doing 30ds but I am a beginner at exercise. So far I just get on a treadmill at the gym or a stationary bike and do like 45 minutes or so of cardio. I am learning to control my breathing and how to keep my heart rate between a certain range... I still get very much out of breath when exercising. Should I wait until I am more experienced or should I just jump into the 30ds and try to follow long with jullian as much as possible and build up my endurance as I go with the dvd?
Also any exercise tips for me would be greatly appreciated because I am such a noob when it comes to this.

They have one of the "models" doing a beginners version of everything - she doesn't jump as high, doesn't go so far into squats etc. So it shouldn't be impossible for you to jump right in if you have the motivation. I'm not much fit and it's *hard* but its only 20 minutes so you get through somehow. The dvd is cheap so you could always get it and try it - if it's too much atm then you could make it a goal to get your fitness up a bit more to be able to do it? :)

There is a post about this in introductions (I think)....a bunch of people are starting this tomorrow I think.

I would love to do it too but I don't have the dvd yet and I want to wait until after Christmas to start it (Jan 1st).

    Good luck with it!

I started on Friday, and I've been so sore ever since! It may have to do with the fact that I was using 5 pound free weights, it could have something to do with the fact that I have no strength stamina, I'm not sure! lol I would suggest that if you do the cardio, then you could do the video, but maybe start out w no weights, and just see how you feel after that. Also, check out the model doing the beginner stuff, he's pretty good!
I think I might use a couple of cans and try again tomorrow, see if that has any bearing on the total death I felt in my legs for the last 2 days! It's a great workout and super quick, in 20 mins, you can feel good about your fitness efforts for the day! Try it out and see what you think! :)

My wife (hootsmamma) and I have been doing it for a week now. today will be day 7. It is hard, but doable. She has MS so she keeps a chair by so she can put her hands on the back of it for balance on things like the butt kicks and stuff, but it's working and you kinda want to slap Jillian by the 3rd or 4th day, but it does start to get better and it is working thats for sure! Good luck. I'd say go for it. It's funny, but some of the stuff in level two is easier to do for me than level one, so I mix it up. I sweated off 4lbs water in one workout which included 30 mins of Jillian and 30 mins on the bike. It does work you, but it also build your confidence level too.

cupcakecutie1 - I did the exact same thing when i first starte the 30DS! Used my 5lb weights and just went for it - I could barely walk for two days I was so dang sore! I limped off to Target and bought some lighter weights.

trishtrish84 - I would say you could totally do the workout, beginner or not. Just go easy at first, use super light hand weights (2 or 3lbs) or none at all when you first start, and go easy. You will be sore, so don't feel bad about taking a couple of days off from the DVD if you're too sore - just walk it out on the treadmill like you have been until you can do the 30DS again. Once you do a week or so of it, you will be amazed at how quickly you gain strength, endurance & flexibility. At least that's how it went for me. Good luck!

You can follow the modified lady, but really, it isn't that difficult! I tried it several times and I got bored every time by like day 1 lol

I've done 30DS, and I think you could benefit from starting it even though your fitness level is low. Just give it your best effort and I think you will definitely get something out of it. If you need a break to breathe or have a drink of water, that's fine...just get back to it ASAP. You will find as you go through the program you will get stronger every single day! Also, if 10 days pass on Phase 1 and you are still getting comfortable with that workout I would not move on to Phase 2.

I haven't done it yet, because I'm starting January 1st, but I think you can always try it once, and then if you think you aren't very good with it, you can always take it slow. It's not like they are monitoring you. You can do phase 1 100 times if you need to. Whatever makes you comfortable, but I think you should try it.
