I'm 40 and I just ran 8 miles for the first time in my life!

It felt amazing!!! Before today the most I ran was 6, but today it just felt so good I just wanted to keep going and going! I'm really starting to enjoy running and it feels great! For a while there I was getting bad shin splints, but I've started focusing more on form and not so much on speed and they've gone away (knock on wood)! Plus I usually run on a treadmill and today I ran outside. It took me an hour and 10 min. to run 8 miles! Thanks for letting me share!

Awesome job! I know exactly what you mean because I've also just started running in the 7-9 mile range outdoors and I'm 48 now! I could never have imagined even walking that far in my 20's and 30's. Isn't it wonderful that we can continue to grow and push ourselves and still stay young?0

That is SO AWESOME! The best runner's highs are the ones that come from achieving your goals.0

That's Great!!!
Doesn't it feel great to move your own body that far? Most people would just jump in their car!
Welcome to the addictive world of running!0 -

Congratulations!! and that is a great time if you ask me!!
I did a 5k charity run at my heaviest weight some years back and it took me 45 mins.. i remember someone walking the course saying they'd finished in 40 mins... thats how slow I ran but hey.. running is GREAT if you don't normally do it!
Well done and keep up the great work!0 -
CONGRATS!!!! I am running a half-marathon soon and previous to training for this, I had never run more than 5K ever. I think I almost cried the first time I hit 8 miles. It's a huge accomplishment!0
