I want to get the body bugg or another calorie counter or heart rate monitor so that i can get an accurate count of the calories i am burning. I know oftentimes the calories actually burned can be a over estimation or under estimation and I really want to get a more accurate count of calories burned and heart rate monitoring. Any suggestions?

First off Bodybugg and HRM's are both estimates of calories burned.. No device can accurately tell you calories burned. Are they more accurate estimates? Yes, but they are still estimates just the same.
I personally use a Polar FT7 HRM and like it a lot.. easy to use/set up, and hasn't given me any real problems. You can not wear this device 24/7 though like you can the bodybugg.. so that is something to consider.
Bodybugg is also nice.. but it's also more pricey. Not only do you need to buy the device, but pay monthly to use it.
So depending on what you want to spend and what you want to use it for, will decide which one you need.0 -
I have been using a Polar HRM for a couple years now to track my calories burned during a workout and love it!
I have also started using a BodyMedia Fit the past month and it has helped me to get a much better idea of my total daily calorie burn, steps, sleep, etc.. MFP had calculated my calories too low and now that I have more accurate information I was able to make the necessary changes and now I am finally losing weight!0 -

I use a polar FT4 during training and am well pleased with it :bigsmile:0

Polar HRM and BodyMedia fit...are those devices you wear or a website??
Both devices that you wear.. Polar has a strap that goes around your chest and watch to wear on the wrist.
Bodymedia fit is an armband that you wear... but you pay to use it. They have their own website that you upload the data too and what not.0 -
I use the BodyMedia Fit and feel that it is more accurate for me than the MFP calories burnt. I have to enter my weight and height into their website, but the sensors collect data to give a good reading. For example, if I do a 40 minute walk, it detects my different pace and growing level of fitness and returns different calories burnt readings as a result. Pricey? Yes. But I have decided that my health is worth the investment.0

I use the Polar ft4, and I love it! This site was overestimating how many calories I burned in a workout, so it's great to see what I actually burn. I highly recommend it!0

I have a Bodybugg and I have worn it every single day for 8 weeks now. I love it and cannot say enough great things about it.
24 Hour Fitness often has great deals. When I purchased mine I got it for $99, free shipping and it included 12 months of the online subscription.
About 2 weeks after I started wearing it my medium arm strap broke. It comes with a medium and a large. I called customer service and they sent me a new one overnight and they also gave me 3 free months of the online subscription for the trouble.
Great company.0
